The Makerwell is a product of Made Market LLC.
When you sign up, we collect your email address, brand name, and the profile information you choose to provide (name, city, state, bio, social links, photos, category, and booth preferences). When shoppers scan your QR code, we collect the information they submit (name, email, phone, and zip code). We also collect basic usage data like login times and page views to improve the platform.
Your profile information powers your public maker page and helps market organizers understand your booth needs. Shopper data captured via QR codes belongs to you and is used to populate your customer list. We use your email to send transactional messages (login links, system updates) and, with your consent, occasional product updates. We never use your customer data for our own marketing.
How SMS opt-in works. If a shopper subscribes to SMS from a maker through The Makerwell — for example, by checking the SMS opt-in box on a maker’s storefront subscribe form — we send one confirmation text to that shopper. The shopper becomes an active subscriber only after they reply YES or START to the confirmation. The exact disclosure text shown next to the opt-in checkbox at the moment of consent is stored in our records as proof of consent.
Message frequency. Frequency varies by maker and program. The maker discloses an estimate at the opt-in point (typically a few messages per month).
Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge for sending and receiving SMS depending on your plan. The Makerwell does not charge shoppers for messages.
How to opt out (STOP) and get help (HELP). Reply STOP to any text from a maker on The Makerwell to unsubscribe from that maker’s SMS. You will receive one confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and you will not receive marketing texts from that maker again. Reply HELP at any time for the maker’s brand name, a link back to this policy, and our support contact (admin@themakerwell.com). Standard keyword variants (STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT; HELP, INFO; START, UNSTOP, YES) are honored on every maker number.
Age. Our SMS program is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect SMS opt-ins from anyone under 18, and we will remove any such subscription on request.
SMS opt-in data is not sold and not shared with third parties for their own marketing. Phone numbers, opt-in status, and consent metadata are used only by the maker the shopper subscribed to (and The Makerwell’s service providers acting on the maker’s behalf) to send the messages the shopper signed up for. We do not share SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
Carriers handle delivery. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your public profile (brand name, bio, photos, category, social links) is visible to anyone with your profile URL. Your customer data, contact details, and booth preferences are private to you. Market organizers who accept your application can see your application details but not your customer list. No other maker can see your data. Our infrastructure uses row-level security to enforce this at the database level, not just in application code.
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. We do not delete it on a schedule. There is no age at which your market history, your past applications, or your customer list expire.
You can ask us to delete it at any time. Close your account from Settings, or email us at the address below. Closing starts a 30-day window. During that window you can download the records we hold under your account, and you can cancel the closure. That file names inside itself what it leaves out and why. Before you confirm, we show you the list of what gets removed, the list of what we have to keep, and the list of what we can only remove once a condition is met, with the reason for each.
On or after the effective date, a person here completes the removal and emails you when it is done. It is not automatic yet, and we would rather tell you that than let you assume otherwise. Nothing is removed before that date.
Anonymized, aggregated data (for example, total platform sign-ups) may be retained indefinitely for analytics.
Backups. Our database provider keeps 7 daily backups of the platform. Deleted data leaves those backups as they roll, which takes about a week.
Deleting your data does not delete these. None of them is used for any purpose other than the one listed. The list below covers the main ones and is not meant to be read as complete: the confirm screen in Settings shows you the full list, generated from the same rules this page describes, at the moment you close.
SMS consent records. Records of SMS opt-in and opt-out are retained for up to four years, even after account or data deletion, because we may need them to demonstrate compliance with telemarketing and consumer-protection laws. A record holds the phone number, the timestamp, the source, and the exact disclosure text shown at sign-up.
Opt-out and do-not-contact records. If you or one of your contacts told us to stop messaging, we keep that record. We keep it because it is what prevents that person from being contacted again. We keep the contact point and the fact of the opt-out, and nothing else.
Financial records. Orders, invoices, booth fees, and payout records are kept because tax and accounting law requires a business to keep its records, and because card networks allow a payment to be disputed after the fact.
Signed documents. An agreement you signed is evidence of a contract with someone else, and their side of it does not end when you close your account. We keep the signed copy.
Security records. Sign-in events and administrative actions are kept for 12 months so that account takeover or payment abuse can be investigated after it happens. After that they are erasable like anything else.
Jury records. If you applied to a market, the record of how that market’s jury decided is kept without you attached to it, because a market has to be able to show how a cycle was juried. The link between that decision and you is erasable on request.
The fact of a message, when the body is gone. If you ask us to remove what we sent, we remove the message text and keep who it went to, when, and whether it arrived. A send record with no consent behind it, and consent with no send it explains, are each useless as proof. They are two halves of one thing.
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand how makers use the platform. We will never sell your browsing data or install tracking pixels from ad networks.
You can access and update your data at any time from your dashboard. From Settings you can download the records under your account in one file, or ask us to close your account and remove them. The file names inside itself what it leaves out and why. You can also do either by emailing us at the address below.
If you bought a ticket to a market and never had an account with The Makerwell, your information sits with that market rather than in a maker account. Email us and say so.
If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data protection laws (such as GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), we will honor your rights under those laws to the extent they apply to us. To exercise a right, email us at the address below and we will respond within the timeframe those laws require.
